USA swimmers
Parents and swimmers,
The Gwinnett County Championship Meet is sanctioned by USA swimming. This means that if your swimmers wants their times submitted into the USA swimming times database then the swimmer must submit their USA swimmer ID. I apologize for the short notice, but this must be done by tomorrow by 1:00 pm. The ID’s must be submitted along with the entries. I was just informed of this requirement. It is easy to do. The USA swimmer ID is a randomly assigned number that should have been received when you submitted your USA swimmer registration. If you don’t submit the ID number, it simply means the times achieved in the County Meet will not be sent in to USA swimming. Honestly, it is not imperative for USA swimmers to do this.
Below is the email that I received:
If you have USA athletes that are participating in the meet and they want the times recorded in the USA SWIMS database (along with their year-round times) you will need to make sure you provide their USA member id along with their meet entries. Also please be aware since our championship meet is being sanctioned and run under USA swimming rules there are a few additional steps we must take for those who are over 18. All USA athletes over 18 must submit their USA member id and also must ensure they have a current APT (Athlete Protection Training) certification. For most of them they should already have it as they need it to compete routinely. Please make sure you are asking your athletes about this in advance and if they are not current they need to take steps to become current (they do this through their year-round club ab USA Swimming). If they are not current by the time the meet starts they will not be able to swim.
When you go into SwimTopia, go into your swimmer’s profile:
- Click on "Edit"
- Scroll down to "Registration Number"
- Enter the USA Swimming ID in this field
- "Save"
- Thanks,
- Coach Rick
