Meet Info for this upcoming week

    Parents and swimmers,

My gray hairs can be attributed primarily to these three things in any order:  age :), families not declaring their intentions for a swim meet by the deadline :(, and swimmer no-shows at a swim meet resulting in multiple relay changes and often times disappointed swimmers that are unable to swim a relay that has to be scratched :(!!!!

Please declare your intention for this week's meet by 2 PM, Tuesday, June 3.  We will be swimming at our home pool.  Since we have a 6-lane pool, we will be limited to 6 team entries in the long free, IM, breast, and fly events.  A swimmer may end up being moved to a different event so we can abide to this league restriction on entries.

I apologize for some of the confusion dealing with lining up relays at the Hamilton Mill meet.  The pool area is incredibly large and it was difficult gathering all of the relay swimmers in a central area (the rain was also a nuisance).  Our team area at the Chateau Elan pool is smaller so we should not have the same issues this week.  We ask that swimmers that are participating on relays to start lining up in the team area after the 11-12 events leading up to the start of relays (11-12 back for medley relays, 11-12 short free for the 8-under free relays, and 11-12 fly for the rest of the free relays).  We ran the 9-10 free relays in the middle of the meet as an experiment last week at the suggestion of Hamilton Mill.  We will let everyone know if we will be doing the same this week.  If we do, then we will try to do a better job of communicating this change in event order during the meet.

Summer league swimming is not only an individual activity, it is also a team activity.  If you we able to witness the free relays near the end of last week's meet you would have seen the excitement and energy the swimmers put into their relay races to try to win a close, hard fought meet!  We were extremely proud of the effort the swimmers put into their races knowing they were all working toward a team goal!  Hamilton Mill has always been an extremely competitive rival due to their large team, and close proximity!  Many of our swimmers either attend school with some of their swimmers or train together on a club team.

    Thanks,

    Coach Rick
