Mini Wahoos Information

    Attention Mini Wahoo parents,

We will make up any missed mini wahoo lessons the week of June 29-July 2.  Next week the temperatures are predicted to be much warmer.  We ask that you please be patient as the coaches get to know your swimmers and their current level of experience.  The groups are diverse in the level of experience and the coaches will adjust their teaching to meet the individual needs of each swimmer.  We ask that if you have any questions or concerns that you please address Coach Heidi at [email protected] and not deal with the assistant coaches.  We have 4 coaches in the water to greatly reduce the swimmer to teacher ratio. The swimmers will have a more positive experience once the temperatures warm up.

Attached is the goal sheet for the minis.  We will also handout the goal sheet at the next practice.  These are the specific skills that the coaches will be targeting. We understand that many swimmers may not be able to achieve every checklist goal during a single season due to their age, developmental stage, or limited swimming experience. For many children, it can take one or even two years in the Minis program to develop the skills needed to advance to the next level of swim team participation.

Our coaches will be working throughout the season on the specific skills outlined in the checklist to help each swimmer progress at their own pace. Building strong swimming fundamentals takes time, consistency, and practice. Swimming development is a marathon, not a sprint, and every swimmer’s journey will look a little different. Our goal is to provide a positive experience, build confidence by overcoming fear, and enable the swimmers to make the jump onto the team.

We greatly appreciate everyone's understanding and support!

    Thanks,

    Coaches Heidi and Rick
